Get involved in Residence

Place Vanier & Totem Park

Both residences offer a number of opportunities for residents to get involved in their community. Everyone is welcome to join one of the committees, and sign-up occurs in September. Please attend the Residence Involvement Fair in September for more information.

Floor Reps

In Place Vanier and Totem Park, every floor elects a Floor Rep at the beginning of the year. The Floor Rep plans events for the floor, helps put together intramural teams, orders floor shirts, and more! The Floor Reps and the House President make up the House Council, which plans a number of events for the house – from pancake breakfasts to hockey nights – as well as a house spirit week. The time commitment is about 2 hours each week.

Floor Reps need to complete a nomination form, available in early September, and are elected by their floor in late September.

If you have an event idea or are interested in helping with floor and house events, speak to your Floor Rep, House President or Floor Advisor. New event ideas are welcomed and volunteers are always needed.

Committees

There are several committees in Place Vanier and Totem Park, each made up of Residence Advisors and residents. They are an excellent way to enhance your experience living in residence! The time commitment is about 2 hours each week.

Why do people join committees?
