Residence AdvisorsResidence Advisors play an important role in residence life: they offer orientation programs that ease your transition to UBC and they plan community events and programs that will help you learn, grow and make friends. Academic programs include learning to take notes, improving your study skills, and handling midterms. Residence Advisors are among the best-connected people at UBC: if they can't help you, they know who can. They lend an ear when you need to vent or ask for help, and they help ensure a peaceful, respectful residence environment. Residence Advisors also make sure that there is plenty to do in your free time. There are recreational sports, movies, trips, dances, multicultural events, motivational speakers, coffeehouses, performing arts events and much more. |
Residence Coordinators(Totem Park and Place Vanier)Residence Coordinators are students in their final years of their undergraduate, or graduate degrees , who work and live in Totem Park and Place Vanier. RCs supervise a group of Residence Advisors, get to know the residents in their house(s), and liaise with the elected House Councils. RCs help Advisors to plan events, be available for their residents, and help keep residence a respectful and peaceful place to live. Annual residence events such as Colour Wars and the Vanier Olympics, and the variety of committees available to be involved in are also coordinated by RCs. RCs hold regular office hours in their apartments, which are located in most houses. Drop by to say hi! |

Marine Drive
Jason Moore
Hello! I'm Jason Moore the Residence Life Manager (RLM) for Marine Drive residence. I would like to welcome new, returning, and prospective students and their parents to UBC and to student residences. I'm sure that we will have the chance to get to know one another during the course of the year, but let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I have been a member of the UBC community since 2000 and have enjoyed being both a student and a staff member over the years. I completed my degree in Human Kinetics , with a minor in psychology, at UBC and treasure the experiences that I had during my educational career. It has become apparent to me over the years that the success of many students is nurtured through a supportive environment both in the classroom and in the home. It is my focus to make sure that every student not only enjoys their time in residence, but also exceeds their own expectations because of a strong supporting community. I look forward helping students both enjoy and learn during their time in residence. As the RLM I work closely with other professionals to ensure that residents have an enjoyable environment where both academic learning and personal growth are valued. I supervise the Residence Advisors and help oversee student councils and building operations to ensure residents have the best possible experience in residence at UBC. To ensure that this experience takes place involves the collaborated efforts of the Residence Advisors, Residence Association members, Front Desk team, Facilities and Building Services staff, and Residence Administration staff. The Residence Advisors living in each building receive extensive training, and offer support and leadership in many formats. They are excited to meet residents and help make their time in residence both successful and memorable. I strongly encourage you to get involved with the events and programs the Residence Advisors and the Residence Association provide in your new home; your entire university experience will be richer because of it. I truly hope that you enjoy your experience at Marine Drive and at UBC and welcome your feedback, suggestions or comments about living here. My office is located in room #102 in the Commonsblock so please drop by and say hello! |
