Early Arrival

Early arrivals are not typically permitted. However you are eligible to apply if you meet ALL of the following conditions:

You have submitted your Winter Session residence application and required payment prior to May 1, 2011, and are awaiting confirmation of your Winter Session residence. AND

You belong to one of the following pre-approved groups:

  • Newly admitted international students registered for GALA/International orientation.
  • UBC Visiting Student Exchange Program participants registered for GALA/International orientation.
  • Students in early-starting academic programs
  • Varsity athletes participating in early-starting team practices (as approved by the Department of Athletics)

Please note the following terms and conditions before you submit your application:
  • Your Early Arrival Residence may be different than your Winter Session room.
  • Students receiving Early Arrival Residence (during August 28 - September 3, 2011) will be required to move on short notice (less than 24 hours) into their Winter Session residence. Please do not apply for Early Arrival Residence if you are not prepared to move on short notice during this period (for example, if after you arrive, you are planning to be away from Vancouver for any time between August 28 to September 3, 2011.)
Cost:

Early Arrival Residence August 28 to September 3 inclusive. Students will be placed in their winter session rooms where possible. If not possible, students will be placed in Place Vanier until their winter session room is available.
Cdn. $25 per night for a single or shared room in Place Vanier or Totem Park Residence
Cdn. $35 per night for a single room in Walter H. Gage, Fairview Crescent, Ritsumeikan, Marine Drive residences, Green College and St. John's College.
Cdn. $40 per night for a Studio unit in Walter H. Gage, Marine Drive residences and Green College.
Cdn. $45 per night for a 1-bedroom unit in Walter H. Gage or Fairview Crescent residences.

Payment:
Payment must be made by credit card prior to arrival.
Confirmation:

You will receive a confirmation of Early Arrival Residence by email.

Residence Front Desks are open 24-hour. Early arrivals can check in at residence front desks as follows:

  • Place Vanier Residence, 1935 Lower Mall.

Cancellation:

Reservations for Early Arrival Residence will be charged to you unless cancelled by July 31, 2011 regardless of whether or not the room is occupied.
If you provide proof of non-acceptance to UBC your early arrival residence payment will be refunded.
