Year round

Community Assistants are live-in residence life student (or student spouse) staff in student family and faculty/staff housing who:

  • plan many of the activities and programs that are offered in residence
  • help 'keep the peace' in the residence community
  • are available to offer a listening ear, and
  • can provide information about campus life and services

Overall, Community Assistants work to ensure that residence can be a constructive living/learning community for residents.

It's a terrific opportunity. Students committed to making a positive difference, being taught and learning new leadership skills, being proactive in community involvement, developing event-planning skills, and being part of the Student Housing and Hospitality Services team, are welcome to apply.

Each community assistant is assigned programming responsibility for a specific age group (Preschool & Parents, Elementary School, Youth, Adults & Families, International Spouses), as well as sharing responsibility for community-wide programs. Residence Life staff are required to live in Acadia Park and are responsible to pay the required fees for their accommodation. Compensation is $550 per month (average of 12 hours per week for Preschool & Parents, Elementary School, Adults & Families programs) and $275 (average 7 hours per week for Youth, International Spouses programs).

Typically, positions are advertised as they come available throughout the year. Applications are accepted year round and will be kept on file until a position becomes vacant.
