Who can apply for Staythrough Housing?
Staythrough Housing is for Current Residents who hold a Residence Contract with Student Housing, Okanagan. Staythrough Residents will be given priority for accommodation if they apply by April 1, 2013. Students could be asked to move any time to enable consolidation of vacancies.

Is there an Application Fee?
There is no application fee for Staythrough Students.

When does Staythrough Housing begin?
April 25, 2013 at 12 noon.

When will I have to move to my Summer accommodation?
May 1 – 3, 2013

When will I have to move if staying for the 13/14 Winter Session?
August 22 - 29, 2013 (please make note of these dates in case you plan to be away from Residence during the end of August).

What if I am not returning for the 13/14 Winter Session?
You must vacate your room by August 21, 2013.

In what type of accommodation is Staythrough Housing?
In our Lower Cascade 4 bedroom apartments.

What do 4 bedroom apartments include?
Kitchen with fridge, stove and microwave (bring cooking supplies)
Dining and Livingroom Area with balcony, sofa, 2 arm chairs, dining table and chairs
2 Bathrooms
4 Bedrooms with standard twin bed, dresser, desk, chair, and closet
Utilities and Internet connection (in each bedroom)
Air conditioning
Laundry Faciilities are located nearby
Not included: Telephone and Housekeeping services

When will I receive a room offer?
You will receive an offer mid April allowing time to accommodate roommate requests.

What is the deadline to request a roommate?
April 1, 2013 for Term 1
June 1, 2013 for Term 2

Is Parking available?
When you have accepted your Summer Residence offer, you can contact Parking for Parking pass information.

Summer Housing

Who can apply for Summer Housing?
Summer Housing is for applicants who currently DO NOT live in a residence managed by Student Housing, Okanagan. A minimum 30 day stay is required. Application does not guarantee assignment.

Is there an Application Fee?
Yes there is a $50.00 (Cdn) application fee when applying for Summer Housing. This is a non-refundable application fee. We accept Interac, cash, money order, or personal cheque when applying in person at the Student Housing office in the Nicola Residence. When applying on-line we accept Visa or Master Card. If you require assistance with your application please contact us at 250-807-8050.

When does Summer Housing begin?
May 12, 2013 through to August 21, 2013.

When can I check-in?

May 12, 2013 starting at 12 noon.

In what type of accommodation is Summer Housing offered?

Who is Eligible?
Students currently living in residence managed by Student Housing, Okanagan please see Staythrough information.

UBC Okanagan students registered in Summer credit courses or in a graduate program.

UBC Okanagan students employed by a UBC Department in a research capacity. (copy of
your appointment notice is required)

Full Time students from other universities performing research directed by a
UBC Department. (proof of UBC sponsorship and student status is required)

Individuals with special circumstances with the approval of the Student Housing Office.

Who is given Priority:
Priority for housing is given to students that currently live in residence managed by Student Housing, Okanagan. All other applicants will be assigned based on availability. Students could be asked to move any time to enable consolidation of vacancies.

Rates

Residence fee payment will be required in one installment if you are staying for 60 days or fewer, and two installments if you are staying 61 days or longer.

What are Staythrough and Summer Housing Rates?

Staythrough and Summer Housing Rates in Upper Cascades are based on a daily rate of $24.00.

When are Installments due?

First installment due on acceptance of offer for payment through to July 1, 2013.
Second installment due date will be June 22nd, 2013 (if applicable) for payment from July 1, 2013 to summer check out date.

For residents vacating earlier than July 1, all residence fees must be paid by the first installment date.

Is there an Application Fee?

How can I make my Payment?

Cancellation Policy

For Staythrough and Summer Housing, you are required to give written cancellation notice to UBC Student Housing and Hospitality Services, Okanagan. Please note that:

  • The $50 residence application fee (not applicable to Staythrough Students) is non-refundable.
  • If we receive written notice of cancellation 22 days prior to the move-in date shown on your residence acceptance confirmation, your residence fee payment will be refunded.
  • If we receive written notice of cancellation within 21 days of the move-in date shown on your residence acceptance confirmation, a $100 cancellation fee will be assessed.
  • After the move-in date, 30 days notice is required to cancel your summer contract.
