Who must self-isolate?

The Canadian government announced quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated travellers will be eased starting July 5, 2021. If you are traveling to Canada and meet the eligibility requirements, you will not need to quarantine. Travellers who are not fully vaccinated must continue to follow quarantine requirements. UBCO OFFERS SELF-ISOLATION OPTIONS FOR:

Registration Open!

Available to any UBC student who is requiring isolation in July (due to international travel, COVID-19 exposure, or COVID-19 illness)

  • Latest available check-in: July 31, 2021.
  • After your isolation period, you can move to your final destination.

Registration Will Open in Early July

JumpStart Students

Students who are registered in JumpStart and need to self-isolate (ie those arriving from outside of Canada).

    • You will need to self-isolate ahead of the first day of JumpStart.
    • If you require a 14-day isolation, your check-in date will be August 14, 2021.
    • If you require an 11-day isolation, your check-in date will be August 17, 2021.

Students Entering Canada

Any UBCO student with an accepted 21W Housing Contract.

(Please note there will be an additional charge posted to your housing account to reflect accommodation for the nights outside of isolation, and prior to the start of your 21W contract)

    • If you require a 14-day isolation, your check-in date will be August 17, 2021.
    • If you require an 11-day isolation, your check-in date will be August 20, 2021.
    • If you arrive after these dates, accommodations will be available on a first come first served basis, and we cannot guarantee space.

Any UBCO student living off-campus in September

      • Self-isolating on campus: You must check in with us by July 31, 2021. After your isolation period, you are able to move to your final destination off campus.
      • Self-isolating for the required time at one of our partner hotels.

Registration Ongoing

Those who have been instructed by the Health Authority to self-isolate.

  • Available to students who are required to self-isolate due to COVID-19 exposure, or a positive COVID-19 test, and who cannot self-isolate in their current accommodations.

UBC is offering a subsidy of $34 per day for students who indicate they are facing financial hardship and are purchasing the UBC Self-Isolation Package or the Self-Isolation Meal Plan.

The subsidized cost of the UBC Self-Isolation Package (accommodation and meals) is $45 per day. The subsidized cost of the Self-Isolation Meal Plan (only available to residents able to self-isolate in their own units) is $15 per day.

Details:
• Available on a one-time-only basis to students who are required to self-isolate due to travel.
• Subsidy is processed during the registration / purchasing process (you will be asked on your application form).
• Students able to self-isolate in their own units can purchase the self-isolation meal plan at a subsidized rate of $15 per day.
• Taxes will be applied to the subsidized rate (if applicable).

UBC Self-Isolation Package Subsidy
